Children and Art

People start to explore the idea of art at a very young age. This does not mean that the children already know that what they are doing is art. And just because the art was done by children, it does not mean that it is not nice or beautiful. Every art piece has its own meaning hidden underneath the surface. Art works or drawings that children make has a beauty of itself

Graffiti

Graffiti is the name for images or lettering scratched, scrawled, painted or marked in any manner on property. Graffiti is sometimes regarded as form of art and other times regarded as unsightly damage or unwanted. Some people think of it as art, others vandalism, and others think, its a culture of its own

Inspiration

Inspiration is when you are stimulated to do or feel something. It can happen anywhere with anything. Like art, music, work and much more. Inspiration is a sudden brilliant or creative idea that motivates you to do or advanced in something.

Miracles happen in unexpected places

Work Experience..

One months long my friend Sandra and I, decided to ask "The Phu Chaisai Mountain Resort and Spa" wether it would be possible for us to experience how it is to work in a resort. The reason behind all this is because I might want and get a degree in hospitality and before I actually head of to university I just wanted to be sure first if I like it or not. Anyways, it was great fun. I learned a lot, made many new friends and met many new people. What I was stunned about though is the structure and the concept of the resort. Everything is made out of bamboo which represents nature. This also got my thinking out my art works, what possibilities there are to link this experience with art.

Summer in Switzerland..

During the summer I went to Switzerland with my family. It was the last summer I'll spend with my family before graduation. Basically we lived there, in Bissone for 2 whole months. We did many walks, crossed the boarder over to Italy, went on bike rides, swam in the lake and many more.

Spoon Fed Art

SpoonFed Art began as a collage project and evolved into an online store in 2004. Los Angeles based designer Karin Collins began working with collage as means for therapy for an eating disorder and by 2004, her collage work had merged with her passion for art, pop culture and fashion, resulting in her beautiful and unique pendants.

Thai Society

For my new art project, I have been looking at "Thai Society" in relation to "Suicide". Many thai students at high school and university levels are pressured to maintain a GPA of 4.0 and once this grade point average is not reached, the students family are not satisfied. In a lot of thai families it's all about looking good and status. (A thing parents seem to care about) But the children have to help their parents by being good students, so the parents can be proud and tell all their friends about it. The pressure here might be to much for some students. Up to a level where if they do not reach the GPA of 4.0, they are so stressed and therefore are looking for a way out.  Committing Suicide. In this art work I have tried to show this concern by building a university (with clay) and a student jumping down (committing suicide) to the ground, lying their lifeless. I have thought of making this a series of art work that show the pressuring on students and the different ways they commit suicide

Paris..

Looking at structures.

Last summer I went to Paris, visited the "Eiffel Tower" and many other things. But the way the Eiffel Tower was built, just blew my mind. It is in the middle of a big city and yet it is fascinating. A huge structure made of metal. Strong & Amazing.
This gave me a kick looking back and wanting to learn more about structures, which is why I will dig down deeper into structures in my IB Art work.

Other Pictures from The Barge..

Barge Trip

Last year in Grade 11 we went on a barge trip starting from Bangkok to Ayutthaya and back. During the 4 days, we visited many places including ancient temples and local markets.
On the trip I took pictures that I thought could be included as some of my cultural art,
as well as random pictures.

Ricky Swallow

Ricky Swallow is an Australian artist who born in 1974. He lives and work in Los Angeles, California.
His art works are some what based on sculpturing. This is carving wood into sculptures.
Some of Ricky Swallows work:
(Private Dancer, 2002)
(Come Together, 2002)
(Together is the new alone, 2002)
(The Exact Dimensions of Staying Behind, 2005)
(History of Holding, 2007)

ART TRIP

As grade 12 IB art students, we took a trip to look at a small art gallery called "PongNoi Art Space".

The gallery is based on photography on the basic Chiang Mai culture. From the pictures, it seems like the artist "Tirawat Saengphueng" is trying to represent Childhood. There were a series of pictures where 83 little images are lined up into a shape of a rectangle, showing children playing on streets and having fun or showing some cultural images of an elphant representing Lanna Style and Culture. The artist used some repetition in his photography and enlarged some of the same images into bigger artworks.

Chalermchai Kositpipat

"I intend to remain a painter for the cause of Buddhism until the last day of my life. Nothing can ever change me or divert me from this course, not fame, nor contempt."(Chalermchai Kositpipat)

(hands reaching out of hell at the beginning of this journey)
Chalermchai built a temple in the northern part of Thailand, a province called Chiang Rai
The temple is called "Wat Rong Kun" or the white temple. Chalermchai's idea was to make people feel like walking into hell, learning through the way and then walking out of heaven. Everything inside is hand painted. This project started of all with his own money and own raising. Now it is widely known

. . . w h a t i s y o u r d e e p e s t f e a r . . .

. . our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. it is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. your playing small does not serve the world. there is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. we are all meant to shine as children do. it's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. and as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. as we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates other . .(Timo Cruz)
