Art works by Morrakot Naksin

Morrakot Naksin was one of the artists who's work really caught my attention at the La Luna Gallery.

Jansen Chow

Jansen Chow was born in Kuantan, Malaysia in 1970. He graduated from Kuala Lumpur College of Art in 1992 and has been a full time artist ever since. Jansen has pushed the watercolour medium to uncharted waters with several signature techniques like the stardust highlights, the sequin effect and a mock photo graphic solarisation in free frame stills. " The preparations are more important than the size", he says, " because even a small mistake can spoil it. The work has to be well thought out in terms of subject and execution with the larger watercolour paper primed with gesso for layering as well as to make it thicker as if done by acrylic."

Art trip to La Luna Gallery

Last Friday.. the grade 12's went to visit "La luna Gallery". The art works were very impressive and interesting. There is a wide range of topics and themes that I haven't seen before. Many of the artists are from Thailand, but there are also some European, Burmese, vietnamese and many more.

Depression and Art

The normal stresses of life can lead anyone to fell sad every once in a while. Things like an argument with a friend, a breakup, doing poorly on a test, not being chosen for a team, or a best friend moving out of town can lead to feelings of sadness, hurt, disappointment, or grief. These reactions are usually brief and go away with a little time and care

Depression is more than occasionally feeling blue, sad, or down in the dumps. Depression is a strong mood involving sadness, discouragement, despair, or hopelessness that lasts for weeks, months, or even longer. It interferes with a person's ability to participate in normal activities.

Depression affects a person's thoughts, outlook and behavior as well as mood. In addition to a depressed mood, a person with depression can also feel tired, irritable, and notice changes in appetite.
